Primary class sessions
Using the Curriculum for Excellence requirements, programmes of stories from around the world have been devised for each primary year group. These sessions have remained popular since their onset with Greater Pollok schools, and in recent years have grown in popularity with schools from across the city and beyond. Each session is led by one of our storytellers and ably assisted by two volunteers. These sessions take place in the Village and include storytelling, storymaking and craft based activities. As the session comes to an end the teacher is given a resource pack for follow up use when back in the classroom. This spring and summer our sessions have been changed to include an enriched programme with guest storytellers/artists and includes more opportunity for outreach workshops to be delivered in schools and nurseries. A brochure has been produced and sent to schools and nurseries. If you would like to view our brochure please click link below

Reminiscence Sessions
These sessions are attended by four local groups of older residents within the Greater Pollok area. Each month the reminiscers talk about old times as films, photographs and objects jog their memories over a welcome cup of tea. Many wonderful and enjoyable stories have been retold and all who attend, staff and reminiscers, constantly express how they love their visits to The Village. In December we hold our Concert at Christmas when some of the Pollok primary schools send a choir to sing for our reminiscence groups.
Following on from the success of these sessions, we have been exploring and developing a new reminiscence programme which will commence in September 2009. For further details of what is available please follow the appropriate links:

Monthly storytelling Ceilidhs
Every second month people of all ages and backgrounds
gather for an evening of stories and songs by candlelight in The
Village. These popular evenings give us a chance to be entertained
and to get to know each other. By evoking the age old traditions we
have a real sense of building community. For details of these and other
special events go to our Events calendar.
