who we areThe Village is a community-based storytelling centre for people of all ages. Based in Pollok in Glasgow, The Village aims to be a welcoming place where people can explore their roots, their relationship with the world around them, and the significance that traditional stories might have to life in 21st century Scotland. Located in the converted wing of St James' (Pollok) Parish Church, the Village provides the ideal setting for flights of fancy to take off. Climb up a painted turret to find a boat waiting to take you on a journey of adventure, or a camel gazing at you from painted walls. Downstairs is painted with murals to remind us how Pollok would have looked in the past. Funded by the Greater Pollok Social Inclusion Partnership till March 2006 (now funded by Community Regeneration Fund) and Parish Development Fund since April 2005 it has run an active programme since September 2000 and was officially opened in March 2001. This year local firm Chrystal & Hill Office Products have generously provided sponsorship towards our running costs. The Village received a visit from HMI Inspectorate of Education as part of the HMIE 'How good is our community learning and development'. We received several favourable comments which can be viewed on our comments page. To view the complete report follow the link Our annual report for June 2007 to July 2008 can be viewed here.
